The Scholar Tool allows pupils to learn how to use referencing systems and follow other academic conventions in their research and written work. Learning to create citations, bibliographies and captions using the Scholar Tool encourages students to understand the importance of academic honesty whilst feeling supported in a new area of learning. At present the Scholar Tool allows students to select and create references using the Chicago, Harvard, MLA or Oxford styles.
The Scholar Tool is designed to instruct the students how to select the correct source and then follow the appropriate conventions for setting a reference out. Users can create files for specific essays and pieces of coursework allowing students to manage their work effectively.
The Scholar Tool has a bibliography creator and ability to convert a collection of references into a bibliography with the touch of a button. To educate and support students further in academic conventions the Scholar Tool provides a ‘driving test’ for students based on the conventions and practises of referencing and academic honesty.
